Human Development is a paradigm promoted by the UNDP since the 1990s. It is an alternative perspective to approach development, focusing on the expansion of people freedoms to live long, healthy and creative lives. From a Human Development perspective, people are both the agents and the drivers of development. This course seeks to analyze the theoretical bases of the concept as well as the relations between HD and its impact in enlarging people’s choices. The course offers tools to measure and analyze public policies, programmes and development projects from the HD perspective.
Course Structure
The course is structured to be completed in 12 weeks and this includes 4 subject topics and 2 weeks for course introduction and closing. The introduction includes a course summary, and the closing unit invites participants to assess the course according to the below structure:
