Citizen Security is one of the key areas of work for UNDP in the region. Since 2008 three editions of the course have been completed in association with the Oberta Catalunya University in relation to the third Human Development Report for Central America “Citizen Security”, training more than 80 strategic actors who work in the area of making policies.
The VS in partnership with the Crisis, Prevention and Early Recovery Cluster designed a new academic offering for the entire region within this thematic and in relation to the Human Development report for Central America 2009-2010, “Citizen Security open spaces and Human Development”.
Course Structure
The course is structured to be completed in 14 weeks and this includes 4 subject topics and 2 weeks for course introduction and closing. The introduction includes a course summary, and the closing unit invites participants to assess the course according to the below structure:

Measuring citizen security |

The exits that have been designed and the implementation of citizen security policies in relation to human rights. |
